Q Why do Gemini RIB’s bigger than 5m have an alloy keel?
A GEMINI hulls are required to be strong both for their operation in the sea as well as for operational beaching or even unexpected ground contact situations requiring a strong hull. In order to achieve this GEMINI builds a box section into the keel. Into the box section woven roving is placed. The woven roving is then resined in then glassed in. An alloy section is then fitted over the keel and fixed into the solid mass of glass, woven roving and resin. This design feature ensures a very solid hull and keel structure.

Q What is the appeal of a GEMINI inflatable to the recreational boater?.
A GEMINI core business is the design and construction of military, commercial and rescue inflatable craft.  Recreational models are based on the same demanding specifications and construction methodology which translates across to the GEMINI recreation market. The ordinary boater gets the advantage of GEMINI inherent industrial/military strength technology.

Q In a rigid inflatable are the pontoons for floatation purposes only?
A No their primary purpose is to provide a high tech super-structure able to act as a user friendly interface to persons on board. The tubes are rigid enough to provide good security and support, yet soft enough to provide excellent shock absorption from rough water. The secondary function is to provide dynamic stability, and lastly the tubes provide additional positive floatation.

Q Why is Hypalon regarded better than PVC to manufacture the buoancy tubes ?
A Hypalon has long been regarded as the industry standard and has a history behind it. PVC is becoming popular with some brands and this is because it is cheaper and easier to produce. Military, rescue, and commercial operators specify Hypalon, so ask yourself if its good enough for rescue, military and commercial operators to use hypalon what should I use.
